Power Pack

The HF Projects Custom Built Lithium Ion Nanophosphate Power Pack is offered in three sizes:

  1. 25WH; 4x1 array; 1lb; 4.5x3.5x2.5 inch

    50WH; 4x2 array; 2lb; 6.5x3.5x2.4 inch
  2. 75WH; 4x3 array; 3lb; 9x5x3 inch

Each Power Pack is packaged in a rugged fire retardant, rain tight enclosure with Power Pole connection, a battery guard module and Cell balance connections. A strong feature of this Lithium Ion Nanophosphate technology is the high discharge and charge rates possible. Nanoscopic carbon materials greatly increase conductivity over other lithium technologies. A micro-powered Battery Guard module controls over-charge or under-discharge and provides short circuit protection to protect the battery. Less than 5mw power is required. Internal battery connections are available at a cell balancer connector.

The battery Temperature range is -30 to 60 degrees C making it ideal for portable operation.  Over one thousand 100% depth of discharge cycles equates to long battery life. This 6AH battery pack (12 cell in 4x3 matrix) weighs approximately 3lb and measures 7.9 x 4.8 x 3 inch.. Popular Anderson Power Pole Connectors are used.

The battery characteristic of Lithium Ion Nanophosphate technology ranges from 14.4V to 11.2V. The normal range during discharge is ham friendly between 13 and 12 V. This inherent higher voltage is very favorable to your radios operation.

New Battery Technology

  • Founded in 2001, A123Systems' proprietary nanoscale electrode technology is built on initial developments from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • A123 replaced the Cobalt Oxide in Lithium-Ion cells with nanophosphate, which is phosphate in particles a few billionths of a meter in size. The battery technology allows quick charge, while delivering high power density, with long life-time. It is used in power tools, and is in the process of breaking into the hybrid vehicle market.
  • A123System high power battery technology is based on new highly active nanoscale materials that are inexpensive, nontoxic, and extremely stable in electrochemical systems.
  • Intrinsically safer cathode material since exothermic reactions can not occur in batteries based on this material. In addition, A123 cells have a higher discharge current, do not explode under extreme conditions and weigh less.
